North of the Kathmandu valley and West of
Langtang national park are the snow-capped peaks neighboring Ganesh Himal. This
rarely visited area introduces you to a broad spectrum of unspoiled Nepalese rural
life and a surprisingly diverse array of flora and fauna. This route passes through
Pine and Rhododendron forests and numerous mountain passes. The scenic views of
Langtang, Gosainkunda, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Bauddha Himal, and the Annapurna
range thrill your soul. Village life, terraced farming, and people of many different
ethnic groups with unique cultural and religious practices, as well as waterfalls
and hot springs are more than enough to inspire a trek in this area. You will
experience simple and welcoming village-life, incredible wilderness, and the historical
palace of Gorkha (home of Prithvi Narayan Shah, founder of Nepal).
The trek starts
from Trisuli or Betrawati, a four-hour drive from Kathmandu. Most trekkers start
their route from Betrawati, heading through Sing La pass to the base of Ganesh
Himal.
