Overview

The Everest Base Camp Bed and Breakfast Trek is a flexible and affordable way to experience one of the world's most iconic trekking adventures. Designed for travelers who prefer greater freedom during their journey, this package includes accommodation, daily breakfast during the trek, domestic flights to and from Lukla, all required permits, and the services of an experienced local trekking guide. Lunch and dinner are not included, allowing you to choose your own meals each day according to your preferences, appetite, and budget.

Unlike traditional full-board Everest Base Camp packages, this trek gives you complete control over your food expenses without compromising the trekking experience itself. Whether you prefer light meals, vegetarian options, or simply enjoy trying different dishes along the trail, you are free to order directly from the teahouse menus throughout the journey.

The trek follows the classic Everest Base Camp route through the heart of the Khumbu region. Beginning with a spectacular mountain flight to Lukla, you'll walk through traditional Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags, and pass ancient monasteries before reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Along the way, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Thamserku, Pumori, and many other Himalayan peaks.

Proper acclimatization is an essential part of every Everest Base Camp trek. This itinerary includes two acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to help your body gradually adjust to the increasing altitude. You'll also hike to the famous viewpoint of Kala Patthar (5,545m), widely regarded as the best place to witness panoramic views of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan giants.

This package is ideal for independent-minded trekkers who appreciate flexibility while still enjoying the safety, convenience, and local expertise of an organized trek. Your guide will take care of permits, logistics, and navigation throughout the journey, allowing you to focus entirely on enjoying the incredible landscapes and cultural experiences of the Everest region.

Whether you're trekking solo, with friends, or as part of a small group, the Everest Base Camp Bed and Breakfast Trek offers an excellent balance of freedom, comfort, and value while delivering the complete Everest Base Camp experience.

Why Choose the Bed and Breakfast Package?

Many trekkers prefer having complete flexibility when choosing their meals during the trek. Instead of paying for a fixed meal plan, this package allows you to decide what you would like to eat each day and how much you wish to spend.

This option is ideal if you:

  • Prefer flexibility over fixed meal arrangements.
  • Have specific dietary preferences or restrictions.
  • Want to manage your personal food expenses.
  • Enjoy choosing meals directly from local teahouse menus.
  • Are looking for excellent value without compromising safety or service.

You will still enjoy the same Everest Base Camp experience, follow the same classic route, stay in comfortable mountain teahouses, and trek with an experienced local guide.

Who Is This Trek Suitable For?

This trek is suitable for:

  • Solo travelers
  • Couples and friends
  • Budget-conscious trekkers
  • Travelers who prefer flexible meal arrangements
  • First-time trekkers with good physical fitness
  • Experienced hikers seeking the classic Everest Base Camp experience
  • Private groups and families

Estimated Food Budget

Lunch and dinner prices vary depending on altitude. We generally recommend budgeting:

  • USD 25-35 per day at lower elevations.
  • USD 35-45 per day at higher elevations.

Additional expenses for snacks, tea, coffee, bottled water, and desserts should also be considered. For most trekkers, carrying approximately USD 350-500 for personal expenses during the trek is usually sufficient.

Essential Information

Accommodation During the Trek

You will stay in locally operated mountain teahouses offering twin-sharing rooms. Facilities become simpler as altitude increases, but the warmth and hospitality of the Everest region remain constant throughout the journey.

Single rooms may be available at lower elevations for an additional charge and are subject to availability.

Lukla Flight Information

During Nepal's peak trekking seasons, flights to Lukla may operate from Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to air traffic regulations. If applicable, our team will provide all necessary arrangements and information before your departure.

Please note that mountain weather can occasionally result in flight delays or cancellations. We recommend allowing one or two extra buffer days after completing your trek if your international travel schedule permits.

Guide and Porter Services

Your experienced local guide will accompany you throughout the trek, ensuring your safety, assisting with logistics, and sharing valuable insights about the Everest region and Sherpa culture.

Porters are available as an optional service. One porter can generally carry luggage for two trekkers, making your journey significantly more comfortable.
