Trek to Pikey Peak:
Beyond The Limits Treks and Expedition Staff will pick you up from your booked hotel in Kathmandu after breakfast. This website price offers to share local Transportation. if you like to upgrade to Private Transportation you can consult with our travel expert )To reach Solukhumbu district, we’ll need to drive from Kathmandu to Dhap and trek to Jhapre. Located about ±1,500m/5,000ft higher than the capital the drive follows a great part of the Sun Khosi River before heading uphill. Jhapre will be our first local village for overnight. Immediately upon arriving, you’ll notice your first views of Mt Everest and Mt Numbur Himal.
On the next day, we start the trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp. It’s a straightforward trail. First up is the small village of Bhulbhule. After this, we take the right-side trail while enjoying the views of the Everest Range. Continuing on we pass by old abandoned yak houses, as well as a long Mani Wall. Now the trail heads into a beautiful rhododendron forest. If booking the Pikey Peak trek during the spring season you are in for an amazing day of trekking through the blooming flowers of the forest. A bit further ahead we reach Pikey Peak Base Camp (3,640m/11,942ft). Exploring around Base Camp and taking in the views we prepare for an early overnight as the next day we plan to catch the sunrise from Pikey Peak. We woke up around 4 am and began our hike up to Pikey Peak.
Once at the top, the sun starts to warm the entire area and views Mt Everest, Mt Makalu, Mt Lhotse, Mt Kanchenjunga, and many more. We take our time to enjoy these amazing natural views and make our way back to Base Camp pikey peak for breakfast.
Trek to Phaplu and drive back to Kathmandu:
Having completed the main highlight of the Pikey Peak trek, we make our way to Jase Bhanjyang village. It’s mostly descending, with some smaller ups as well. On the 4th day of the Pikey Peak trek, we head for the town of Junbesi. This Sherpa town houses a 400-year-old monastery and is especially popular during the Dumje festival celebrated between June and July. Having enjoyed our time at Junbesi we continue with the head for Taksindu village. Along the way, we have a river crossing and make our way to the Salung Ridge. From here amazing views of Mt Thamserku, Mt Everest, and the Kusum Kangaru can be seen. After passing the ridge we head down again but this time towards the Ringmo Khola River. We cross and head up the Taksindu Pass. During the ascend we stop and overnight at Taksindu village. Phaplu, the last village during the Pikey Peak trek is just a few hours away. Starting by following a part of the Junbesi Khola River, we cross via a steel suspension bridge. Following the trail, we pass by Beni Ghat and ultimately reach the Sherpa village. Phaplu, is a traditional Sherpa village. Here you’ll be able to see the unique Sherpa culture up close and see how these Himalayan legends survive and thrive in even the most remote villages. In the evening you can participate in a local Sherpa cultural ceremony or just enjoy dinner and a good overnight. Tomorrow we drive back to Kathmandu and conclude the Pikey Peak trek of 7 days.
