Everest Base Camp Trek Luxury

The luxury Everest Base Camp trek is a classic 14-day trail that traverses through the legendary Khumbu region of Nepal and takes you all the way up to the Everest Base Camp. This trek is designed to keep your comfort in mind. The trail traverses through peaceful Sherpa villages, diverse landscapes, past monasteries with fluttering prayer flags, and across suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.

In the luxury trek to Everest Base Camp, you will spend every night at a high end accommodation which includes 5 star hotels like Raddison in Kathmandu and luxury lodges like Yeti Mountain Home and Rivendal during the trek. So, you will be comfortable with attached bathrooms, hot showers, and hearty meals at the end of every big day on the trail.

Your journey begins in Kathmandu, where you stay in a luxury hotel before flying to the most exciting airport in the world: the Lukla airport. Over the 14 days journey, you will fly into Lukla and follow the classic EBC trail through villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep before reaching Everest Base Camp on Day 9.

On Day 10, you will go on a hike to Kala Patthar which is one of the most iconic vantage points of the Sagarmatha National Park. After catching the sunrise over Mt. Everest, you will descend to Pheriche while retracing your steps through the same route. Over the next 3 days, you will trek back to Lukla and finally make your way back to Kathmandu.

This trek also offers you an optional add on of a helicopter return from Gorakshep to Kathmandu which is perfect for trekkers with less time and equal enthusiasm to experience the Everest region. If you want to skip the repetition, you can just trade your trekking boots for a quick helicopter return from Gorakshep.

Why Choose the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek?

The Everest Base Camp luxury trek is designed for trekkers who want to fulfill their bucket list adventure of reaching the base of the iconic Mt. Everest without giving up on their comfort. It is also ideal for people who like personalized service or for those who don’t have 14 days to dedicate to the trek.

The premium Everest trek provides maximum comfort at every altitude with the luxury accommodation options. These luxury stays offer amenities like Wi-Fi, heated rooms, attached bathrooms, a la carte menu, and hot showers, which are otherwise a rare luxury in the Himalayan landscapes.

This trek also features an add-on option of a helicopter return which can shorten your total trek duration towards the end by facilitating a helicopter return from Gorakshep. This saves you 3 days of descent and prevents physical exhaustion. To top it off, you will also witness stunning aerial views of the entire Khumbu region, and the experience often goes on to equivalent of a mountain flight.

In the Everest luxury trek, you will also see smaller trekking groups with more attentive staff and personalized experience. Small group sizes mean your guide knows your pace, monitors your acclimatisation closely, and adjusts the day's plan around your small group. All in all, the Everest Base Camp luxury trek delivers both adventure and comfort in a single package.

Which High-End Lodges Will I Be Staying In?

Quality accommodation is one of the defining factors of the luxury trek to Everest Base Camp. While the Everest region is remote, we at Beyond the Limits Treks and Experiences have partnered with comfortable teahouses to make your journey much more memorable.

Kathmandu (Days 1, 13 & 14): While in Kathmandu, you will be staying at either Radisson or Marriott Base featuring comfortable en-suite rooms, restaurants, Wi-Fi, and all the amenities you need to rest and recover.

On the Trail (Days 2–12): Accommodation along the EBC route is in well-regarded mountain lodges and tea houses, selected by Beyond the Limits for their comfort, cleanliness, and location. Most lodges from Phakding to Lobuche feature attached bathrooms with hot showers at lower altitudes. All rooms are heated and include comfortable bedding.

  • Phakding: Yeti Mountain Home
  • Namche Bazaar: Yeti Mountain Home
  • Deboche: Rivendal
  • Dingboche: Similar Luxury Lodge
  • Lobuche: Similar Luxury Lodge
  • Gorakshep: Standard Teahouse

Note on Gorakshep

Gorakshep is the final settlement before Base Camp and sits at 5,164 m. Given the remoteness of the stop, expect basic accommodation here. You may get shared rooms, no hot water, and chilly nights. Pack your warmest layers and treat it as part of the adventure. You'll only be here for one night.

Conclusion

By combining the Everest trekking route with premium accommodations and an optional helicopter return, this package offers a perfectly balanced experience of adventure, comfort, and unforgettable Himalayan scenery. For many travelers, standing at Everest Base Camp and watching the sunrise over Mount Everest from Kala Patthar is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. This luxury version ensures that this journey is not only extraordinary but also comfortable and memorable at the same time.

Everest Base Camp Trek Luxury – 14 Days Itinerary

Kathmandu to Kathmandu

Expand all

Your Himalayan adventure begins with your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A representative from Beyond the Limits Treks and Expeditions will be receiving you at the airport. Our representative will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer to a premium hotel in the vibrant capital city of Kathmandu.

After checking in, you can relax for a while. If you feel fresh, you can take a walk and explore the nearby streets of Kathmandu Valley. In the evening, you will meet with your trekking guide and the Beyond the Limits team for a pre-trek briefing session. All the important details about the journey will be discussed during this session and you can also clarify any doubts.

The day begins with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, which is home to the most dangerous airport in the world, and you will know why during the landing. The Lukla airport is surrounded by the Himalayas and is a thin airstrip located on a hill. While the flight is short, you will get both fascinating views of snowcapped peaks and an adrenaline rush.

After landing in Lukla, which is the main entry point into the Everest trekking region, you will officially begin your trekking adventure. You will descend through the traditional Sherpa villages, stone houses, and lush forested trails. Upon trekking for around 2 to 3 hours and crossing a couple of suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, you will reach Phakding which will be your destination for the day.

After a quick breakfast at Phakding, you will continue the journey along the scenic Dudh Koshi River valley and ascend through lush pine and rhododendron forests. On this day too, you will cross a few suspension bridges, including the iconic Hilary suspension bridge.

This is the day when you will officially enter the Sagarmatha National Park. At the entrance, there is a check post where you have to get your permits verified. Then a steep and challenging ascend leads you towards Namche Bazaar.

If the day is clear, you might catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest on the way. After trekking for around 5 to 6 hours from Phakding, you will reach the capital of the Khumbu region at Namche Bazaar, which will be your home for 2 days.

This is an important day in your Everest luxury trek journey as you will acclimatize and allow your body enough time to adapt to the high altitude and thin air to prevent altitude sickness. Instead of completely resting, we will follow the ‘climb high, sleep low’ principle.

This means we will be taking short hikes to nearby acclimatization stops and return back to Namche Bazaar for sleeping. We will go on an early morning hike to the Everest View Hotel, the highest altitude luxury hotel in the world. On the way, you will be treated to magnificent views of Himalayan giants like Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and more.

After sipping a cup of coffee while adoring the Himalayan panoramas, you will return to Namche Bazaar where you can explore the vibrant Sherpa market, high altitude cafes, and even the highest altitude pub in the world: the Irish Pub. Then you can relax in your teahouse.

After proper acclimatization, it is time to get back to the Everest Base Camp trail. Leaving Namche, the trail climbs along a high ridge followed by a descent to reach the Dudh Koshi river. After crossing the river, you will again start your ascent.

You will enter the alpine zone today as you move along the scenic path that winds along the mountainside with spectacular panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Around 5 hours of trek will take you to the Tengboche Monastery, which is the spiritual center of the Khumbu region.

Take a moment to yourself here and feel the peace as you will be surrounded by Himalayan views while the chants, prayers, and bells are ringing in the background. After visiting the monastery, the trail descends slightly through peaceful forests to the quiet village of Deeboche which will be your stay for the night.

Today, you will be going above the tree line which means the landscape will become more rugged and alpine as you go higher. You will begin with a descend through rhododendron forests to reach Imja Khola where you will cross another suspension bridge. Then, you will climb through open yak pastures.
You will be crossing Pangboche from where you will enter wide glacial valleys, and, on the way, you will be able to see stunning views of the towering Mt. Ama Dablam. After trekking for around 4 hours, you will reach Dingboche which is a quiet settlement surrounded by stone walls that protect crops from strong mountain winds.
This will be another important stop on the Everest Base Camp luxury trek for acclimatization before you go to altitudes beyond the 4,000-meter mark. Spend the night resting at Dingboche.
Accommodation: Luxury lodge
Altitude: 4,350 meters

On an acclimatization day in Dingboche, today you will be going on a hike to the Nangkartsang Peak at 5,091 meters, from where you will get views of the iconic Mt. Makalu alongside other Himalayan peaks. While the hike is definitely challenging, you will be rewarded with some of the most stunning views of the entire trek. You can then head back towards Dingboche where you can relax and prepare for the next coming days of the trek.

Today's trek will be a 4-hour journey along a high mountain trail with spectacular views of glaciers and rugged peaks. You will cross a stupa at Thukla and go up a steep hill to reach the Everest Climbers Memorial. This is a sobering place where monuments are dedicated to honor the Sherpas and the mountaineers who lost their lives in the Khumbu region.

Upon crossing Thukla, you will see an immediate shift in the landscape as rocky and barren terrains enter the picture. After trekking for around 5 hours, you will reach the small settlement of Lobuche which will be your resting spot for the day as you admire the Himalayan landscapes surrounding you.

The most exciting day of the Everest luxury trek, today will be the climax of your journey. After an early breakfast in Lobuche, you will head towards Gorakshep which is the last settlement before the Everest Base Camp. The first clear sightlines of the base camp are visible from here.

After a short rest at Gorakshep, you will then ascend upwards to cross the rugged terrains alongside the mighty Khumbu glacier, which is one of the largest glaciers in the world. After trekking for around 2 hours, you will reach the iconic Everest Base Camp.

Standing at the foot of the iconic Mt. Everest, you will truly understand why this is the most awaited highlight of the luxury Everest Base Camp trek. Absorb the overwhelming feeling of success as you are surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and expedition tents. This is your moment. After you explore the base camp, you will then return back to Gorakshep to rest for the night.

For those disappointed with the lack of view of Mt. Everest from the EBC, worry not as today will make up for it. You will be going towards the highest point of this Everest Base Camp adventure and it is not the Everest Base Camp. Your day will begin with an early morning hike to Kala Pathhar at 5,555 meters, which is the pinnacle of the trek.

From Kala Patthar, you will get fantastic views of the entire Himalayan range surrounding you, including a clear and direct view of Mt. Everest. Watching the sunrise illuminate the snow-white peaks in the hues of golden and yellow is an image that will forever be etched in your memories. After this, you will start the descent.

You will retrace your steps along the same route and move back towards Pheriche. On the way, you will cross familiar stops including Lobuche and Thukla where you can stop for a quick break. The entire day amounts to around 8 hours of trekking before you get to rest at Pheriche.

After an early breakfast at Pheriche, you will now begin your descent towards the bustling capital of Khumbu, Namche Bazaar. While the journey is descending, the hours are long so the day will still be quite challenging.

You will cross small Sherpa settlements and also Pangboche where you can stop for quick rest. From Pangboche, you will continue your walk down the valley and cross a suspension bridge. You will then see a forested trail area and walk toward Namche Bazaar. If you didn’t get a chance to explore Namche Bazaar earlier, you can do so today after resting for a while.

Today, you will complete the final stretch of your trek. So, bid a farewell to the Himalayas and hit the trail again. You will walk down stone steps from Namche Bazaar and follow the trail towards Lukla. From here, the path will head downward and lead you to a suspension bridge.

You will then hike alongside the river and descend through the terrains at a gradual pace. Eventually, you will arrive at Phakding, going through dense forests of Rhododendron and pine. While the terrain is rather simple, there will be constant incline and decline along the path. After trekking for around 7 hours, you will reach Lukla.

After a night of resting and relaxing at your comfortable teahouse in Lukla, you will then take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your luxury hotel where you can relax, enjoy a hot shower, and celebrate the successful completion of your Everest adventure. We celebrate the night with a celebratory farewell dinner with the Beyond the Limits Treks and Expeditions team.

Today marks the official end of your luxury trek to Everest Base Camp. You will be dropped at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward international flight. We hope the memories of trekking to Everest Base Camp and the Himalayas will remain with you for a lifetime.

If you want to further explore Nepal, you can also explore our other tours and trek packages, and we can guide you through the packages that allow you to explore more of Nepal’s rich culture and heritage.

Everest Base Camp Trek Luxury – 14 Days FAQs

Expand All

The main highlight of the luxury Everest Base Camp trek is the high-end accommodation that we provide. So, what exactly makes it luxury? Well, this premium package doesn’t follow standard teahouse accommodation throughout the trek. Instead, you will be staying at premium lodges across the Khumbu region.

Starting right at Kathmandu, you will be staying at a 4 star hotel like Radisson or Marriott Base where you will find all the amenities including WiFi, restaurants with elaborate menu, comfortable en-suite rooms, and any other service that you might require will just be a quick call away.

While on the trail, you will be staying at luxury lodges like Yeti Mountain Home properties in Lukla, Phakding, and Namche Bazaar, and Rivendal in Deeboche. Here, you will have what most teahouses at high altitudes don’t. This includes attached bathrooms, hot showers, heated rooms, Wi-Fi, and an à la carte menu.

Being the peak trekking season in Nepal, Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the two seasons when the Khumbu region comes alive with thousands of trekkers visiting the region. These are the best seasons for a luxury trek to the Everest Base Camp.

Spring in the Everest region features warmer days, dramatic skies, and the trekking landscapes blazing with rhododendron blooms. During autumn, you will see the clearest skies and the most stable weather, with sharp views of snow-clad peaks. So, if you are looking for comfortable temperatures and the best views, these are your go-to seasons.

However, make sure to make all your bookings in advance as this is also the time when the Everest region experiences the highest trekker’s traffic. So most of the trekking packages, flights, and accommodation options tend to be booked out and might not be available for a last minute decision.

While the journey to the foot of Mt. Everest seems like a distant dream for beginners, it is actually quite suitable for beginners and experienced trekkers alike. With the comfortable itinerary and accommodation of the premium Everest trek, more people complete it on their first try than you might think.

More than your trekking resume and past experiences, what matters to complete the trek is your physical condition and your mindset going in. The baseline is that you should be able to walk comfortably for 5 to 6 hours with a light daypack. This can be easily achieved by regular training for at least 3 to 5 months before the trek. With the well-paced schedule and two built-in acclimatization days, the trek becomes much easier and more achievable.

While we try our best to make the entire Everest experience as seamless as possible, sometimes delays or even cancellations might occur in terms of the flights to and from Lukla. This can happen due to weather-related problems or overcrowding, especially during the peak season when flights may depart from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap rather than Kathmandu.

In that case, you need to start with a 5 hour early morning drive from Kathmandu to reach Ramechhap. We handle all ground transport and will brief you fully before your trek begins. We strongly recommend having at least 2 buffer days into your travel schedule to account for this potential delay, which is a normal part of trekking in the Himalayas.

The Everest Luxury Trek usually costs somewhere between $2,500 to $5,000 USD per person. This cost is variable based on factors like:

  • Group size
  • Any customization required
  • Helicopter return (optional)
  • Guide and staff ratios
  • Season of the trek
  • Trekking company that you partner with

This cost is inclusive of accommodation, all meals on the trail, permits, guide and porter fees, Lukla flights, airport transfers, and government taxes. Things like your trekking insurance, international flights, extra snacks on the trail, trekking gear, and other extras will not be covered by the trekking agency.

At Beyond the Limits Treks and Expeditions, the standard cost for Everest Base Camp Luxury trek is USD ......... per person excluding any customizations. There are no hidden charges waiting for you at checkout. If you would like a precise quote based on your travel dates and group size, send us a message and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

Yes, you can customize the itinerary of your luxury trek to the Everest Base Camp. And we at Beyond the Limits Treks and Expeditions specialize in doing so.
