About Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek

The Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek is one of the best treks of Nepal that allows trekkers to spend memorable days in the isolated region of Tsum Valley and Manaslu Valley. Both of these destinations are known for offering majestic views of the Himalayas and an experience among the ethnic communities that cannot be found anywhere else, as you will be spending nights in one of the oldest and most important monasteries of the region, Mu Gompa. Hence by the end of the trip, you will feel pure bliss with the time spent among the monks and also because of the less-crowded trails.

The Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek gives trekkers enough time to soak in the beautiful landscape of the region and to complete some of the challenging parts of the Tsum Valley and Manaslu circuit trek, like crossing the Larkya La pass, summiting Ganesh Himal and Manaslu base camp, which are also the major highlight of the trek. During this trek, you will walk past several ethnic village settlements and dense forests of the Manaslu conservation area, spend time with locals, explore some of the important Buddhist landmarks like Pungen Gompa, Gompa Lungdang, Mu Gompa, Rachen Gompa, and the historic Milarepa cave, where the Guru Milarepa meditated for a very long time. The scenery in this trek is also worth admiring, as you can see grand views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Cheo, Himchuli, Langtang, Kang Guru, and Birendra Lake. In short, the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek is a comprehensive package that allows trekkers to immerse culturally and naturally in the beauty of Manaslu and Tsum Valley. The trekking journey, which starts from Maccha Khola, ends in Dharapani, the starting point of the Annapurna circuit trek, and leaves an unforgettable experience and memories for the trekkers.

Buddhist Temple on the way to Tsum Valley Trek

1) Weather in Tsum Valley with Manaslu CircuitTrek:

The peak season for the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). During this time of the year, the weather is stable and pleasant, with clear skies, blooming rhododendrons, and wildflowers, and festivals like Dashain and Tihar add beauty to the Himalayas as well.

2) Accommodation during the Tsum Valley with Manaslu Circuit Trek:

Like any other trek in Nepal, during the Tsum Valley trek, you will be accommodated in Teahouses with basic facilities. While in the lower elevation, you can have private rooms with attached bathrooms, in the upper region, you will sleep in a twin room with a shared washroom. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable to spend nights. Although the teahouse provides blankets, it is always best to carry sleeping bags to keep yourself warm at night.

3) Acclimatization:

During the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek, you will be acclimatizing at different altitudes to let the body adjust to the change in altitude. The first acclimatization stop of this trek is in Samagaun, during which we will explore the Manaslu base camp or do a side visit to Pungen Gompa. The next acclimatization is in Samdo, and we will explore the Tibet border and prepare ourselves for the challenging Larkya La trek.

Since this is a high-altitude trek with the highest elevation of 5106m, it is best to rest and acclimatize to prevent altitude sickness. Drinking plenty of water, slow walking, and getting a good night's sleep are crucial to avoid altitude sickness, so we will rest in Samagaun and Samdo, walk at a slow pace, and hydrate our bodies to complete the Manaslu Tsum Valley 23 days trek.

4) Travel Insurance for Tsum Valley Manaslu Circuit Trek:

The most challenging part of the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek is crossing the Larkya La Pass, one of the longest passes in Nepal. Hence, there are several risks associated with the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek, like altitude sickness and landslides. Therefore, we take Travel insurance for this trek seriously.
Having travel insurance that covers medical and emergency evacuation by Helicopter will help you pay expenses in case you have to be transferred to the hospital for immediate health care during the trip.

5) Guide and Porter:

A guide is compulsory for the Tsum Valley trek, and with the new rule of the Nepal Government, it is mandatory to hire a guide no matter where you are trekking in Nepal for safety reasons. So, you must have a guide, while a porter is not mandatory. You can hire a porter on the way if you have a heavy backpack. The cost of hiring a porter is not included in the program, so you can either pack light or offer some extra money to your guide, who might help you carry your bags.
