The Six days short Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trekking experience in the Annapurna region that allows trekkers to explore the Annapurna Conservation area and to summit the base camp of the world's 10th highest peak, Annapurna.

Although a typical Annapurna base camp trek takes 10-12 days, this short trek is the best itinerary if you have limited time in Nepal. The short Annapurna base camp trek starts in Nayapul, from where the trekking trail commences through the village settlement area, dense forests, rocky cliffs, glacial rivers, and cascading waterfalls. Throughout the trip, the trekkers will be offered the best views of the Himalayas and the walks through the lush woodlands of rhododendron, oak, bamboo, and pine forests will soothe your soul. After days of strenuous walks, you will reach the final destination of the trip, Annapurna base camp, where you will see the surreal views of the Himalayas. The Annapurna base camp elevates at 4130m and offers majestic views of Macchapuchre, Himchuli, Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho peak, Pisang peak, and others.

Let's know in detail about the 6 Days Itinerary below:

Annapurna Region

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1070m) and trek to Ghandruk (2012m) Duration: 4-5 hours

On the first day of the trip, you will walk for around 4-5 hours, as you will be crossing several villages, alpine meadows, suspension bridges, and rivers. Passing through the village settlement area of Birethani, Syaulibazar and Kimche and leaving behind the Modi River, you arrive at Ghandruk.

Ghandruk is a traditional village in the Annapurna Region offering alluring views of the Himalayas. Ghandruk also has a cultural museum for visitors to explore the lifestyle and culture of the community. In the evening, you can watch a beautiful sunset from Ghandruk.

Day 2: Trek from Ghandruk to Sinuwa (2310m) Duration: 5-6 hours

On the second day of the trip, you will start your trek to Chhomrong. Initially, the trail passes through the forest, and you will cross one of the longest suspension bridges in the region, the Kadoorie Bridge over the Chhomrong Khola. After crossing the bridge and Jhinu Danda, Chhomrong is about a 1-2 hour walk through the stone steps.

From Chhomrong, you can enjoy the breathtaking sights of the Annapurna ranges. As the Gurung community inhabits the villages of the Annapurna region, you will see people in traditional wear and beautiful traditional houses. After descending the stone staircase to Chhomrong Khola, you will cross a bridge and climb the second series of the staircase that takes you to the Sinuwa village. The village of Sinuwa is known for its spectacular views of Macchapuchre.

Day 3: Trek from Sinuwa to Himalaya (3230m) Duration: 5-6 hours

From Sinuwa, the trail enters the Modi Khola valley passing through the rhododendron and oak forest. Today, most of the walk passes through the damp bamboo forest. The trail has several long steep stone staircases, where you will cross two major villages of the area, Dovan and Himalaya. You will be walking through the rhododendron forests until you arrive at Himalaya. From Himalaya, the forest opens and passes through the dry forest before arriving at Hinku cave.


Day 4: Trek from Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) via Macchapuchre base camp (3700m) Duration: 5-6 hours

The most awaited day of the short Annapurna base camp trek is finally here. Today, you will summit Macchapuchre base camp and Annapurna base camp.

The trek from Himalaya to the Annapurna base camp is quite challenging, but the views are magical. You will initially cross Deurali and continue to enjoy the views of the beautiful valley, gushing river, waterfalls, and the captivating Himalayas. From Deurali, there is a steep stone staircase following Bagar that leads to a place of an avalanche. Walking further from this point, you arrive at Macchapuchre base camp. From Macchapuchre base camp, it is a 2-hour hike to Annapurna base camp, where you can enjoy the panorama of Macchapuchre (6993m), Himchuli (6441m), Annapurna south (7219m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tilicho peak (7134m), Pisang peak (6091m), and other glaciers and moraines.

Day 5: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa Duration: 7 hours

You will start your day by witnessing the magical sunrise over the Himalayas. After enjoying some time in the lap of Annapurna, you will get down the hill and continue your journey to Sinuwa. Biding goodbye to the Himalayas and admiring the views of Modi river valley, you arrive at Sinuwa.

Day 6: Trek from Sinuwa to Jhinu Danda trek and drive to Pokhara Duration: 5-6 hours trek

Your short Annapurna trek ends today as you leave Sinuwa and hike down to Jhinu Danda. As Jhinu Danda has a natural hot spring, you can hop up in the water for a relaxing bath before riding back to Pokhara.
